Original Timmy's
About This Spot
Original Timmy's sits humbly along Martin Luther King Boulevard in Houston, inviting locals and newcomers alike into a space where the rhythm of a busy kitchen blends seamlessly with the steady flow of familiar faces. The moment you step inside, there’s an easy-going energy—nothing rushed, yet vibrant with purpose. It’s a neighborhood spot where quick bites and heartier plates meet the kind of comfort that keeps folks coming back, whether for a midday pick-me-up or a laid-back evening meal.
The pace here feels unpretentious and real, a place where the line moves with a practiced rhythm but still lets you catch the aroma of sizzling wings and savory sauces mingling in the air. The atmosphere hints at a long-standing tradition, a local favorite holding onto its roots even as the city around it changes.
Eating here is less about formality and more about the honest satisfaction found in familiar, well-loved flavors. Think sticky, tangy wings served alongside tender bites of pepper steak or a generous scoop of shrimp fried rice, often accompanied by sides that feel like a small celebration—crisp corn nuggets, buttery teacakes, or a hearty catfish dinner. There’s a balance struck between classic Chinese-American fast food and earnest soul food hospitality that keeps the experience grounded and gratifying.
Original Timmy’s doesn’t rely on flash—what shines through is the steady consistency of well-seasoned dishes served up fresh, the kind that become a staple for those craving that unique Houston blend of spice, comfort, and familiarity. This is a place where small moments matter: the nod of recognition from the team working behind the counter, the buzz of conversation over plates that come out hot and ready, and the quiet satisfaction of sharing a meal that feels just right.

I couldn't believe they were still as busy as they use to be in 1995 but the food wasn't as good as I remember. It wasn't bad, just more expensive with less quality. Its been years since I've been here, so I understand things change!

fried chicken always on point. I just wish they would season the fries. tried shrimp fried rice for the first time, ten dollars for some brown rice in pretty pricey(it's good) but hardly any shrimp and barely has veggies(only beansprouts and chopped oinon). like 10 mini shrimp for that whole tub of rice is not enough

The See You At The Top fleet stopped by Timmy Chan on MLK, and this spot delivers the kind of Houston flavor that speaks for itself. The portions are solid, the food comes out fast, and the team moves with a rhythm that keeps the line flowing. There’s a reason people keep coming back. Whether you’re grabbing something quick or settling in for a hearty meal, the consistency, seasoning, and no-frills hospitality make this a neighborhood staple. Places like Timmy Chan remind us what keeps Houston strong, community, good food, and people who show up ready to serve with heart. SEE YOU AT THE TOP

⭐ Tried the rice combo with chicken wings it was really good! It had plenty of shrimp, chicken, and other meats mixed in, and the flavor was on point. The fried chicken wings on the side were crispy and fresh too. Overall, everything was delicious and definitely worth ordering again And check your orders before you leave because you don’t wanna wait in the drive-through it’s worth it but you don’t wanna come back and wait.
